At the video project to be shown at the Castle in Parikia, building dry stone terraces and walls is being related to personal, social, lived and imagined stories.
The material reported is structured through mindful associations developed during the group discussions of the working team. The material documented, invented or remembered while team working and discussing is being structured to a whole of free associations and connotations. What do we see when we look at a landscape? In what ways our contemporary quests resonate into a picturesque stone wall, is there a "click" point? Can traditional practices for managing a dry land, setting boundaries of ownership and common ground or clearing out fields for agricultural use bring out a paradigm of structural identities to the "here/ we/ now" beyond the aesthetic identity of a spatial and temporal elsewhere? Can the management of the dry environment, the assignment of meaning to boundaries, the production of land for use bring structural identities to the "here/ we/ now" beyond the aesthetic identity of a spatial and temporal elsewhere? |
